We are a family business with one leg in Norwegian Sörlandet and one leg in Swedish Bergslagen. Our Bestemor, Barbara Dorthea, was born in 1898 on Merdö, outside Arendal. The last outpost before the sea towards Denmark began. She grew up as a lighthouse keeper's daughter and took the dinghy to the mainland to prepare for her confirmation.

Where she grew up, there was no room for things that didn't meet the standard. People made sturdy things that could be repaired and used for a long time.

Now I have been making hats for over 20 years, and what I have always thought about is that my hats would have fit nicely at Bestemor's.
